Joanne’s 40th Birthday, Fawley British Legion

When I was planning my 40th birthday party, I sought advice from the local community on the local facebook pages. John’s name was given as well as another recommended DJ. I contacted both, and, despite the other guy being much cheaper, I immediately warmed to John through his messages and had no hesitation whatsoever in booking him. He offered the benefit of his vast experience in terms of venue hire and supported my choice.
During the course of my party preparation, John was on hand to offer advice and suggestions about planning my play list. I asked guests to nominate a song and John was more than happy to play them through the evening. He was also happy and able to play requests on the night itself.
Not all of my guests booked their requests in advance but John mentioned them all by name. My future brother-in-law, Aidy, is in a band (The British IBM). He requested one of his own songs which John played, despite it’s relative obscurity, and still had guests dancing.
We lost my Dad almost 2 years ago, and I asked John to play the songs Dad requested for my wedding reception 6 years ago. His reply was that, while he was happy to do so, would my Mum be ok with that? I was so touched by his thoughts and concern, but Mum said she’d love it. Dad’s requests were played early in the evening, with John respectfully telling the guests that we were going to remember my Dad with those choices. It meant so much to me that it was those songs that kick-started the dancing.
All of my guests and I had a fabulous time, and that is hugely thanks to John. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble and I would have absolutely no hesitation in booking him again. I even had an email the day after telling me how much John had enjoyed the evening, and how I have some lovely friends and family. I so do, and thanks to the services of John, I was able to thank them with a really brilliant night.

I was searching the internet to find a suitable dj for my wedding which took place on Dec 3rd 2016. After stumbling across a website, I placed my details in and got many offers back for my requests. I chose Mr John Towers because his first email stood out from the rest. Everything I requested, John said he would provide no problem, and at a really great price. I had a phonecall with John to discuss all my requests, which went well, and John even suggested some of his own ideas due to his large amount of experience, which was most welcoming. John kept in touch via email right up until the big day, and when I arrived at my wedding reception venue, John was already setting up as planned prior to the start. His equipment was state of the art, and very attractive on the eye, and everything was set up and ready to go in good time. John was very friendly and made sure that we knew if there was anything he could do that he would do it no problem. During the evening disco, John played all the music we requested, and made all announcements as and when we asked for them. I would just like to say that John is a credit to himself and his occupation, he was fantastic throughout and we cannot thank him enough for making our day so very very special. The dance floor was filled the whole night and both families were complimenting his great work. I would fully recommend John to anyone wishing to let your guests have a night to remember! If you want a party to go with a swing, book John. I have had the pleasure of attending two weddings and two parties where John has provided the disco. He has the unique ability to read his audience and get that floor packed. He is so helpful. At my recent birthday party he was faced with a list of requested tracks that provided him with almost 22hours of music- he did his best to select ones to get the toes tapping and bodies strutting their stuff. He even ‘conspired’ to play a backing track so that my sons were able to perform a surprise cabaret for the party. I have no hesitation in booking NFDJS for any party, wedding or get together. John’s the Man!

Thanks again for our evening entertainment. Mum and dad were both really pleased with the choices of music – I think that showed through by Dads dancing. I have to say that he very very rarely gets up to dance as he’s had a lot of back problems, but he obviously felt very comfortable and loved the music! We were very impressed by John’s service. The meetings before hand were useful, allowing us to get to know each other and working out what type of music we wanted.  On the night he arrived in plenty of time set up everything quickly and efficiently, being ready at least 20 minutes before our evening guests arrived.  The lights he included in the price created a fun atmosphere and he was flexible when we changed our second dance at the last minute!  The dance floor was never empty so we were able to relax and see our guests while he played the music we all wanted.  Excellent service and all for a very reasonable price too! From the start of the process to the actual wedding, John showed a level of commitment and dedication to our wedding that is rarely seen these days.
John was very accommodating to our requests and was able to help us plan the event of our dreams. From the initial meeting we had, John listened to what we wanted, and he helped us shape and enhance the wedding reception with ideas and suggestions, as well as taking on board everything we wanted.
Our wedding was a family friendly event, and John helped to encourage the children with ideas of how to get them involved. The wedding was an all age event, and John took that in his stride, and provided us with a fantastic set of music from all eras, and from all ranges, which encouraged everyone at the wedding to get up and groove on.
John was also very keen to ensure that our day was exactly that – our day. By checking on us regularly during the build up to the wedding, and also throughout on the day, John showed a high level of dedication and care that we did not necessarily expect, including checking on the bride that she was happy, and also from arranging the way we left. John was also very approachable and interacted with our guests in such a kind and friendly manner that you’d forget that John was actually your DJ and not just invited. We trusted John to sort out the entertainment for the reception and he delivered all that we expected and so much more.
In summary, if you want someone that will listen to what you want, and then deliver it to a high quality standard and then exceed any expectations you ever had, then John is the person for your event. It was an absolute pleasure to meet John and we would not hesitate to contact him again to run an event for us.

What a great night we had!  I had always wanted a 1970’s themed party and what better reason than my 40th birthday?! John, seemed to know exactly what I was after. From the minute I walked into the venue and saw John dressed up head to toe in his disco gear, including full afro wig, I knew it would be a great night! All the hits of the 70’s were played from disco to glam rock. John even managed to include a couple of more recent tracks that had a 70’s vibe and were a favourite of mine. And he very thoughtfully played the song that was number 1 on the day I was born, at a perfect stage of the evening. John was willing to take requests, which were played pretty much straight away and the fact that everything was played on vinyl, made the evening so authentic. I would have no hesitation in recommending Retro Grooves to anyone. Great service and completely made the disco theme (so much so, a friend wanted to do it all again the following night!).

A big thank you (and recommendation) for John at New Forest DJ Services. He has once again been a great DJ for a family celebration. He was hired for our daughters 16th previously and then my mother-in-laws 60th – 2 different ‘target audiences’ and yet each event was perfect (and personalized to each birthday girl) and enjoyed by everyone attending! – oh, and his new set of lights are amazing!

John DJ’d at our wedding at Rhinefield House in the New Forest on Saturday 7th June 2014. From the first time we got in contact with John he was easy to communicate with and accommodating to what we wanted as well as providing some really useful suggestions such as for songs and lighting. John also communicated separately with the hotel to provide all the necessary licenses etc, keeping this burden away from us. John was very professional, as well as a friendly and fun DJ. He took our list of songs we wanted played and judged the dancing and the crowd well to know what music was good to play when. All in all myself and my husband had a fantastic evening and a lot of this was down to John’s excellent DJ skills. All guests also echo’d how much fun they had dancing the evening away. We would definitely recommend John to DJ at any of our friends or families weddings in the future.

Would have no hesitation in recommending John to DJ any party or wedding celebration – what a thoroughly nice guy and consummate professional. For a variety reasons ours was very nearly ‘the party that didn’t happen’ – not least because we were let down at short notice by the DJ we’d previously booked.  Fortune favoured us – and John proved our saviour, delivering a great mix of music spanning three decades, and keeping everybody more than happy, entertained and on the dance floor. The lighting and volume were absolutely spot on for the size of venue and we had loads of compliments on the playlist. The evening was enormous fun and we will definitely use him again.

We booked John after attending another wedding where he played (brilliantly also!). From the moment we spoke to him at the pre wedding meeting we knew that the entertainment was in safe hands! He had every track we could have asked for (including the Baywatch theme tune one friend requested!) and made sure the party lasted all night! He also used his experience to advise us of what he felt got people dancing and how to say a proper goodbye at the end as well as trying to understand what we liked as a couple. A lovely touch was he remembered and informed our guests as to why our first dance was so special to us – which we were both truly touched by. We could not have asked for a nicer man to create such a wonderful party atmosphere at our wedding and would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.
